A flight operated by Air India Express, bound from Hyderabad to Phuket, had to return to its origin shortly after takeoff on Saturday due to a technical issue. The flight, numbered IX 110, was diverted back to Hyderabad as a precaution.
In an official statement, the airline said, “Shortly after takeoff, our crew exercised abundant caution and decided to return to Hyderabad due to a technical problem.”
The airline confirmed that an alternative aircraft was arranged on priority to minimize delays. Passengers were provided refreshments during the wait. The spokesperson said, “We apologize for the inconvenience caused, but safety remains our utmost priority at all times.
In another incident earlier this week, on July 16, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Goa was diverted to Mumbai due to a mid-air technical issue. Flight 6E 6271, originally scheduled to land at Manohar International Airport in Goa, was rerouted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai as a precaution.
IndiGo, in its statement, said the aircraft landed safely and was sent for maintenance. An alternate aircraft was arranged to take passengers to their destination. The airline expressed regret for the inconvenience and emphasized that ensuring customer safety remains their top priority.
After the IndiGo flight was diverted, Mumbai Airport declared a full emergency at 9:35 PM. The aircraft landed safely at 9:52 PM, and the emergency was lifted five minutes later. A CSMIA spokesperson confirmed that all passengers were safely offloaded and assisted by airport staff. The statement added, “Airport operations remained unaffected, and safety remains our highest priority.”
